Following on from last week’s, topic regarding the process of ” imprinting” when we take the fact that domesticated dogs happily accept that the pack (family) is what is and is not dependent on any particular species within that pack, then we can see the logic of the process that I created and what it is based on.
With only one exception (man) all species focus on the way to stay alive, on an on-going, daily, even momentarily, basis and it is this factor that makes my process so successful, as all other species faced with something that they either do not understand, are fearful of or unfamiliar with, will look for a any single being that does understand the cause of confusion, as that animal instinctively understands that their very survival (life) depends on the right decision being made at that moment,
often checking a couple of times for reassurance; in exactly the same way that scuba divers check their equipment two or three times before entering the water and then have a 'buddy’ with them to ensure their best chance of survival.
So in the case of all canines they survive by finding (hunting) and eating food, by avoiding danger and placing their lives in the safe keeping of those who do understand the environment in which they live or find themselves and who are logically best qualified take charge of the other three areas, which is why I know that working with the four areas will always work with all dogs.
I recall a conversation I had with James C. Halfpenny, a renowned zoologist , author and researcher based in Yellowstone National Park, who asked me how my method can cope with the area of dog natural challenge, which comes at about 18 months of age and when I explained how, faced with situations that the dog simply cannot understand, the dog’s self- preservation instinct immediately comes into play and the dog, though confident, strong, intelligent and fit will recognise that it actually needs help, which result in the dog stepping back to give the decision to the one that knows (its best chance of surviving).
Jim thought for a moment and then said 'Of course, it is an example of the wolf in the wrong place’, I knew that he would understand and am delighted to say that since that time, so many years ago now, Jim has become a friend and a patient person when I ask more questions regarding the wolf behaviour that he has studied for so many years, in my constant desire to know more.
I find it very interesting when people talk of 'rats abandoning a sinking ship’ for the simple reason that if a ship is really sinking then it is much better to jump clear well before it sinks, instead of being dragged under with the pull of that sinking, which would probably drown the one that stays too long and for this reason all other species would jump when they realise that it is impossible to stay.
The problem for many people is that they 'jump the gun’ and jump when repairs can be made, only to find themselves in the water hanging onto a small life raft, as they watch the ship sail by.
The success of 'Amichien Bonding’ is the fact based reliance on the intelligence and survival instincts of all dogs and our ability to recognise, appreciate this and create a method of communicating the information which is 'AB’ and guarantees success, when applied correctly and once you become the calm decision maker, on a daily basis, quietly making the dog feel comfortable and safe, then your dog can work alongside you and you will be happy and in control of all situations.
